Fatal Accident Inquiries (FAIs)
BTO has extensive experience of appearing at such Inquiries all over Scotland. We have represented:
- companies, particularly in relation to fatal accidents at work,
- doctors and nurses where there has been an unexplained death whilst under medical care
- individuals, for instance, where the fatal accident has occurred on the roads.
We have investigated and appeared at FAIs involving deaths in custody, deaths utilising faulty equipment and offshore accidents.
If you receive notification from the Procurator Fiscal’s office that a Fatal Accident Inquiry has been fixed and you are told you should appear or be represented, let us know. For various reasons, including the possibility of civil or criminal court proceedings being taken against you after the conclusion of the Fatal Accident Inquiry, generally, we recommend that you should be represented.
