BTO is a leading Scottish provider of Solicitor Advocacy services (representation in courts, tribunals and inquiries; written opinions) through its ADVantage advocacy product.
The firm is committed to offering advocacy services direct to its own clients and to other solicitors who lack an advocacy capability as a “one stop shop” without the need to engage external counsel. BTO ADVantage offers the services of fourteen Solicitor Advocates (in-house counsel).
In today’s fast moving and increasingly regulated world, clients need representation that is proactive, accessible, business-like, plain speaking and competitively priced. BTO ADVantage enables clients to instruct their Solicitor Advocate direct, rather than having to instruct a solicitor and an external advocate. BTO’s Solicitor Advocates also regularly appear on the instructions of other solicitors.
BTO’s ADVantage team has one of the highest headcounts of Solicitor Advocates in a Scottish law firm. We can offer representation in the highest courts: the Court of Session, High Court of Justiciary, Supreme Court and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, as well as Sheriff Courts including jury trials. We have appeared in Fatal Accident Inquiries and before The First Tier (Information Rights) Tribunal. Our Solicitor Advocates have advised on investigations by the Care Inspectorate, the Information Commissioner and the Health & Safety Executive.
