Jaimie joined BTO in 2018 and qualified as a Solicitor into the firm’s highly ranked Regulatory and Criminal Defence team in September 2020.
Since joining the team, Jaimie has assisted partners with the investigation and preparation of complex cases, including health & safety, corporate & financial crime, Fatal Accident Inquiries and regulatory prosecutions, across a wide range of industry sectors. Jaimie regularly appears in the Sheriff Court representing clients in criminal matters at both summary and solemn level. Jaimie was involved in a successful High Court Appeal and has represented clients in a Fatal Accident Inquiry.
Jaimie is also a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and practised in a variety of frontline NHS maternity services for 8 years, before joining the firm. This experience has provided her with a unique perspective on matters with a medical or healthcare component and an understanding of how health and safety operates in practice.
Jaimie has a particular interest in advising and representing medical professionals in criminal and regulatory matters and uses her previous experience to quickly develop an empathetic and supportive rapport with clients, some of whom face potentially career ending allegations.
During her traineeship with BTO, Jaimie gained experience with the Professional Discipline & Clinical Defence team and the Property and Insurance Litigation teams.
Jaimie is a Notary Public and a member of the Health & Safety Lawyers' Association and the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association.
