Evonne is a paralegal/secretary within BTO’s commercial department assisting two partners and an associate. She has worked at BTO for nineteen years and assists with the preparation of lease documentation, agreements for lease and offers together with general audio typing.

Marieclaire has advised on a full range of transactions including acquisition and disposal of development land and buildings, site assembly, property investment, conveyancing aspects of corporate transactions, security work, RSL and property related contracts, commercial leasing, retail, wind and hydro renewables projects (for both developers and funders).

Her experience involves development sites, investment portfolios, industrial estates, hotels and multi-let office buildings to high street retail units and shopping centres. Clients include: RSLs, funders, developers, charities and retail clients include global sport brand and beauty brand and a UK luxury accessories brand for transactions in Scotland.

Marieclaire has a thorough and client-friendly approach to dealing with transactions.

She is also a Notary Public.

Lewis is a Senior Associate and Solicitor Advocate within BTO’s insurance team. He trained and practises solely in litigation. In 2018 he gained extended rights of audience as a Solicitor Advocate.

As a Solicitor Advocate Lewis regularly appears for clients in the Court of Session and is instructed to provide advice in all types of personal injury, industrial disease, property damage, and commercial cases.

Lewis also acts for clients directly in high value personal injury and industrial disease claims. He has a particular interest in cases involving potential fraud and pursues all avenues of investigation where that may be a possibility.

Lynn is a Partner in Commercial Dispute Resolution; Intellectual Property and Technology; and Data Protection.

Lynn is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Intellectual Property.

Lynn is also WS Accredited in Commercial Litigation and is described by her clients as a versatile and able civil litigator with strong advocacy, negotiating and drafting skills. Her experience covers a variety of legal areas, including intellectual property, technology, data protection, freedom of information and general commercial litigation.

She undertakes both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and technology work, advising clients on all aspects of IP transactions, licensing, protection, enforcement and commercialisation. She has worked on a number of high profile intellectual property disputes, both for and against major international companies.

As part of BTO’s Data Protection Team, Lynn advises on data protection compliance, data breaches, claims and subject rights and advises on freedom of information matters for a variety of businesses and organisations in many sectors.

Lynn has made numerous successful appearances in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland including appeals before the Sheriff Principal and Sheriff Appeal Court, Tribunal appearances, appearances at the Court of Session, and at mediation and arbitration.

Lynn is a Trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland and was a director of the Scottish Society for Computers and Law between 2008 and 2020. Lynn was also the Scottish representative for the Forum of Insurance Lawyers’ Technology and Cyber Liabilities Sector Focus Team from 2018 to 2023.

Dawn is an Accredited Specialist in Employment Law with over 20 years’ experience of advising employer clients across the private, public and third sectors.

Dawn has significant expertise in advising on the full spectrum of employment law matters, including issues arising from company acquisitions and sales, including workforce due diligence and TUPE matters. She is accustomed to applying her knowledge of employment law to a variety of commercial, corporate and litigation matters and regularly advises on employment status issues and how they may impact upon commercial situations.

A hands-on, practical lawyer, Dawn is often instructed to advise on the management of difficult exits, particularly from senior management/executive director and founder positions.

She is also instructed frequently to advise employee/executive clients on complex employment situations, including those relating to disciplinary, capability and grievance matters and in relation to potential Settlement Agreements.
Dawn is an experienced Tribunal practitioner with experience of appearing in the EAT.

Dawn is a regular contributor to the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland and is regularly quoted in the Scottish media on employment issues. [see Daily Record 26.2.21 and 28.5.21]

Memberships: Employment Lawyers Association; Law Society’s Employment Law Group (ELG); Graduate Member of British Psychological Society; Member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association’s Working Party responding to “Equity in the STEM workforce: Call for Evidence” – December 2020/January 2021 - Dawn was part of a small working party responsible for formulating the Association’s formal response to the UK government’s call for evidence.

Kate is a Solicitor and Notary Public in the Dispute Resolution Group. 

Kate joined BTO in September 2022 as a trainee solicitor and spent a year of her traineeship in the contentious construction team. She has experience advising Employers, Main Contractors, and Sub-Contractors on complex and high-value disputes across the UK.
