Contentious Matters
We advise upon matters involving serious casualty and offshore incidents, ship arrestments, environmental claims, property damage, yachts, recoveries, policy advice, defective products, contractual claims, transport claims and personal injury including disease.
The team has diverse expertise in health and safety matters, including fatalities on UK supply vessels, fish farm vessels and work boats, and regularly deals with on site investigations, attendance at MAIB and MCA interviews as well as inter-agency investigations with the Police. On the contractual side, our expertise extends from charterparty disputes to offshore matters, including those related to drilling and production facilities in the North Sea and elsewhere in the world, and issues arising under LOGIC and bespoke contracts.
We have defended cases involving complex specialist liability issues including dredging operations in port and property damage to a pier involving maritime related civil engineering design. We deal with many cases involving cross-border issues and work closely with a wide network of foreign correspondents.
We are specialists in all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration and mediation. Our team is known for being approachable and for resolving cases at the earliest opportunity, thus minimising cost, risk and exposure.
