The Law Society of Scotland has renewed bto partner Caroline Carr’s accreditation as a specialist in employment law until March 2016.
Caroline, who heads bto’s employment team, has been an accredited specialist for ten years and possesses the desired qualities of an employment lawyer in that she is “able to convey legal complexities in layman’s terms” (Legal 500) and is known to clients as “a tenacious lawyer who fights to the end.” (Chambers UK).
Caroline’s team is instructed as Scottish panel solicitors for some of the world’s largest insurers to represent the interests of their insured, ranging from plcs to radio stations. bto’s employment team is also instructed directly by clients ranging from a large soft drinks plc, a major player in the UK telecoms market, Registered Social Landlords, charities and local authorities. Moreover, Caroline has a reputation for acting for senior executives and directors on their employment issues from negotiating significant exit packages to advising on restrictive covenants.
As an added dimension to dealing with mainstream employment issues, through representing the interests of members of various medical and dental defence organisations, Caroline has carved out a niche in advising doctors, consultants and dentists who experience employment and disciplinary difficulties which can significantly impact on their professional reputation and career.
Acting for both employers and employees, Caroline is well placed to anticipate arguments and issues and guide her clients through the management of all employment matters. She and her colleagues also work closely with the firm’s commercial and corporate teams advising on the employment aspects of acquisitions and business transfers.
