Compliance
Charities are under increased scrutiny regarding compliance with charity law since the creation of the OSCR in 2005. BTO’s charities’ team advises on general compliance by way of, for example, policies setting out best practice to ensure good governance.
We can advise also when specific queries arise. For instance, where a charity wishes to branch out and take on a new or modified activity. This involves us examining the charity and its proposal and considering how they can be structured to meet the demands of the OSCR and the law.
BTO also assists its charity clients to comply with OSCR’s Consents and Notifications procedures in respect of changes to the constitution of the charity, winding up and other matters requiring consent and / or notification.
