Biography
Stephen Bryceland, Partner and Solicitor Advocate, is the leader of our Personal Injury business group and the manager of our large team dealing with high volume work. This specialist group is very important to BTO’s business and is a core part of our continued expert delivery of quality service to clients.
Stephen is no nonsense, pragmatic and sensible. He is adept at ensuring positive results on all aspects of personal injury - a very commercially tight area of insurance work. Pre-litigation claims outsourcing is now a significant part of the personal injury work at BTO and Stephen has been at the heart of managing the provision of first rate service to those clients that entrust their claims operation to the team.
He has experience of managing claims with fraud concerns and can provide a sharp commercial focus on how best to address fraud issues in a variety of different case types. One notable case resulted in the abandonment of a court action by five claimants and recovery of costs.
In addition to the direction and supervision of claims and litigation within the team where he uses his specialist training and experience as a Solicitor Advocate, he is closely involved in the business relationship management with our key client accounts.
He speaks regularly at insurance industry events such as Motor Insurance World and the Claims and Fraud summit.
Clients also rate highly Stephen’s training sessions. Their feedback confirms that his friendly down-to-earth approach with a sense of humour is exactly what they need to make education on often dry or dull legal issues lively and real, keeping the audience entertained and engaged throughout. Recent topics have included the operation of the Scottish pre-action protocols, contribution claims, liability for animals and occupier’s liability.
