BTO is looking forward to hosting the Mackrell International EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Young Lawyers’ Meeting in our Edinburgh office on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 December 2019.
This “next generation” meeting will see delegates from a range of countries, including Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and London visit Edinburgh to build on existing relationships and establish new ones with the aim of encouraging more referrals between member firms.
BTO has been a member of Mackrell International (www.mackrell.net) for almost 15 years. Mackrell International is one of the world’s premier networks of independent legal firms located in 60 countries and BTO’s membership provides our clients with access to quality legal representation globally.
At this weekend’s conference, Keith Heddle, Managing Director at Mackrell International, will provide an overview of Mackrell International currently and his views on the future direction of the network. There will also be a panel discussion where delegates will be given the opportunity to air what is important to them and how they would like to see the networking progressing.
Delegates will also benefit from the wisdom of guest speaker Nick Davies who will provide advice on ‘Establishing and Building Business Relationships’. Nick is an author and trainer of communication Skills to Members of The Royal Household. He is also a visiting lecturer at University College Dublin Smurfit Business School and has experience of working with many professional services firms.
At the close of day one, BTO will host a drinks reception in our Edinburgh office to properly welcome our guests and later that evening, Mackrell International will treat delegates to an informal dinner at Cannonball House. There are very few venues that can boast a location as iconic as Cannonball House on Castlehill, directly next to Edinburgh Castle. The House has all the history and character that you would expect from an Edinburgh Old Town building that dates back to the 17th century. It is an ideal choice for new visitors to the city as it captures all of the mystery and history of the Royal Mile.
On Saturday morning, delegates will discuss existing Mackrell International practice area groups in operation and how young members can get involved in future projects. Emerging, less traditional practice areas will also be considered.
