David Hoey, a partner and accredited employment law specialist, with BTO Solicitors, has been appointed as the Chairman of the IoD for Glasgow and the West of Scotland. He succeeds Laura Gordon, who has been Chair for the past four years, and under whose stewardship the IoD in the West has grown by over 20%.

New legislation and ministerial orders have been published in Scotland which breathe life into the root and branch reforms proposed by Scotland’s former senior judge Lord Gill in his 2009 review of the Scottish court system. The rumoured early closure of the Renewables Obligation (“RO”) in relation to onshore wind has been confirmed. The Department for Energy and Climate Change has advised that the subsidies for onshore wind will end on 1 April 2016, a year earlier than originally anticipated.
