The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has launched a consultation seeking views on how to shape its policy on parental bereavement leave and pay.

The consultation is in relation to the definition of a bereaved parent, how and when to take the leave and notice and evidence requirements. The consultation closes on 8 June 2018.

Views are sought on options for regulations to fulfil certain provisions contained in the Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Bill, which is currently being considered in Parliament. For example, how should leave be taken and what about pay?

The Bill makes provision for a minimum of two weeks of parental bereavement leave within a period of at least eight weeks beginning with the death of a child.

If you wish to respond, you can do so online: Consultation on parental bereavement leave and pay or by sending an email to parentalbereavementleaveconsultation@beis.gov.uk

To discuss further please contact one of our BTO employment lawyers on 0141 221 8012.
