The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Inheritance and Intergenerational Fairness (“APPG”) recently released a report setting out proposals for a substantial reform of the current inheritance tax (“IHT”) regime. This follows on from their initial recommendation paper in May 2019 and the Office of Tax Simplification’s (OTS) report into inheritance tax.

Must an employer hold an investigation hearing?

Where suspicion arises that an employee has carried out acts of misconduct, the need to properly investigate that suspicion is a fundamental requirement of employment law. The question often arises, though – does that investigation have to include an investigation hearing with the employee, or can the employer move straight to a disciplinary hearing?
