Lindsay is a Partner and Solicitor Advocate in our Regulatory & Criminal Defence team.

Lindsay trained in prosecution and moved to private practice upon qualification.

She represents individuals and businesses subject to investigation or prosecution by the police or any regulatory authorities. Lindsay provides advice and representation from incident management to trials, Public Inquiries and Fatal Accident Inquiries. She has also represented clients facing investigation and proceedings by professional disciplinary bodies, including the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, the General Medical Council and the Traffic Commissioner for Scotland.

Aside from contentious matters, she has experience in providing compliance advice for regulatory matters, including health and safety policies and licensing issues, and in delivering training for clients/professional bodies.

Accreditations

  • Extended Rights of Audience as a Solicitor Advocate, allow Lindsay to appear in all Courts in Scotland and the United Kingdom Supreme Court.

  • Successfully defended at trial a business owner accused of multiple money laundering offences.
  • Successfully defended at trial a professional driver accused of careless driving, using a special defence of automatism.
  • Successfully defended a doctor accused of a serious sexual offence in proceedings before the GMC.
  • Representing the operators of an airport in an investigation into a fatal accident involving an employee.
  • Representing the operators of a dock in the aftermath of a serious incident involving a vessel in dry dock.
  • Representing a Local Authority in relation to the death of a child on a construction site.
  • Representing a senior engineer involved in the Scottish Hospitals Inquiry.
