Sean Watt

Sean is a Solicitor in our Dispute Resolution team. He undertakes a variety of contentious work and has particular experience in Commercial Litigation.

Sean helps clients find solutions to complex issues across a number of areas, including commercial contracts, debt recovery and real estate (residential, commercial and industrial) through negotiation and, where necessary, court proceedings.

He has experience representing both public and private sector clients in Court of Session actions and litigates frequently in Sheriff Court actions of all shapes and sizes.

Clients have commended Sean for his ability to problem-solve under pressure and for the quality of his work, his personable nature and un-wavering can-do attitude.

Outside the office, Sean has recently represented the Scottish Amateur Football Association national select team in home-international matches and looks forward to joining up with the team for the up-coming 2024 UEFA Regions Cup in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Experience

• Acting for one of Scotland’s largest private vehicle dealers in a number of Sheriff Court litigations brought by customers and others in respect of purchasing, leasing and servicing of vehicles. At their heart, these litigations are contractual disputes which raise interesting issues of contract law generally, warranty provisions and consumer contract law, and have required Sean to undertake investigations into technical matters relating to repair and servicing of vehicles. Sean has helped the client present its position to the court in a manner which has been fair, diplomatic and consistent with the client’s brand.
• Sean has carried out work for a major automobile manufacturer client in support of its defence of group proceedings raised against it in the Court of Session by claimants in respect of diesel emissions. These group proceedings were one of the first of their kind raised in Scotland.
