Lewis is a Solicitor Advocate with civil rights of Audience before the Court of Session and UK Supreme Court.

He is a specialist in dispute resolution having practised as a litigator throughout his legal career. Lewis regularly represents clients in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session at first instance and on appeal. He acts for insurers, commercial clients and private individuals, both defending and pursuing cases.

In addition to Court, Lewis has also taken cases through arbitration.

Lewis has a wide range of experience and has advised clients on claims involving, industrial disease, employers’ liability, public liability, road traffic accidents, fatal accidents, property damage, disputes on contractual interpretation, damage arising from construction and debt recovery. He has also acted for clients facing group litigation.

He is often instructed as a Solicitor Advocate in high value and complex claims and has juniored to several KCs.

Experience

  • Successfully defended a logistics client over an eight day Proof involving claims of bullying/harassment and a failure to supply workplace equipment leading to psychiatric injury.
  • Obtained absolvitor for an insurer following a two day Proof where it was suspected, and finally admitted by the pursuer, that the independent witness to the road traffic accident had given false evidence.
  • Resolved a complex disease claim against an off-shore oil & gas client involving Reactive Airways Disease for around 10% of the value claimed by the Pursuer.
  • Advising a construction industry client in a property damage claim for more than £1 Million resulting from a fire said to be caused by a conveyor belt.
  • Obtained a full recovery for an insurer for their outlay resulting from a tractor damaged by fire where there were two mutually exclusive causes given by our experts.
