Caroline Carr, Grant Hunter and John Dunlop

BTO is delighted to celebrate the start of 2025 by welcoming John Dunlop as a new Partner in the firm’s Real Estate team, based in its Edinburgh office.

This appointment follows last month’s announcement of Paul Greenhill’s promotion to partner in Glasgow, as well as the recent recruitment of three new real estate solicitors across BTO’s Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, further enhancing the firm’s real estate practice.

John brings to BTO extensive experience in representing property developers, investors, commercial landlords and tenants. He also offers significant expertise in acquisitions and disposals.

Grant Hunter, Managing Partner of BTO, commented:

John’s pragmatic and commercially focused approach to property law will be a great fit with BTO’s values. Known for his efficiency and ability to navigate complex deals, John will be an invaluable asset to our Real Estate team and to the firm as a whole. We’re very pleased to have him on board.

John’s track record includes advising on high-profile property transactions and supporting clients across a wide range of sectors. His recent experience includes the disposal of a multi-let retail and industrial park and it also spans acquisitions and strategic property portfolio management, further reinforcing BTO’s strong position in the market.

Commenting on John’s arrival, Caroline Carr, BTO’s Chair, said:

John’s appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to driving sustainable growth across the firm. As part of our broader strategy, his arrival will further enhance the depth of expertise within our Real Estate team, supporting both our clients and the firm’s ambitious future plans.

John Dunlop added:

I’m excited to be joining BTO at such a dynamic time for the Real Estate team. The firm has an excellent reputation for delivering practical, client-focused advice, and I look forward to contributing to its continued growth by helping clients achieve their goals in an ever-changing market.
