BTO is pleased to announce the addition of new partner Martin Walker to its renowned Professional Discipline & Clinical Defence team.

This strategic hire follows the news of two successful partner lateral hires in November and four internal partner promotions in December 2023.

Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Regulation of Professional Conduct Law, Martin brings a wealth of experience to the team led by the highly respected and band 1 ranked Laura Donald.

A skilled litigator, Martin’s practice focuses on representing a diverse range of professionals before their professional regulators, including many teachers, handling a variety disciplinary and regulatory matters.  He also acts in associated criminal complaints and referrals to Disclosure Scotland.

In addition, Martin is well-versed in Fatal Accident Inquiries, having been involved in the Clutha and Sumburgh FAIs, and he is experienced in representing families following the death of a family member in Scotland.

Martin expressed his enthusiasm about joining BTO, stating:

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining BTO and the firm’s top-ranked Professional Discipline & Clinical Defence team. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth and success of both the team and the firm.”

David Gibson, BTO’s Chairman, remarked:

This development is part of our ongoing strategic aim to expand the range of work we do in this business sector, where we already have a reputation as a market leader. Martin’s addition, along with the promotion of Jill Harris to partner last month, strengthens our position and reinforces our commitment to providing exceptional legal services in the field of Professional Discipline and Clinical Defence.
