From 27-29 September 2024, Caroline Carr and Laura Salmond were delighted to fly the flag for Scotland and BTO at the Mackrell International Legal Network International EMEA meeting in Bulgaria.

The conference was hosted by member firm Stankov • Todorov • Hinkov & Spasov Attorneys-at-Law and conference discussions were both enlightening and inspiring, focusing on what it takes to be the law firm of the future. Caroline and Laura had the privilege of hearing from the former president of Bulgaria about the future of Europe and the challenges we face, but also the hope that lies ahead.

AI was a key topic, and the panel discussion, featuring Caroline, on the challenges facing law firms, was incredibly insightful. The conversations flowed seamlessly, enriched by the perspectives of colleagues from around the world.

Beyond the discussions, delegates enjoyed some downtime exploring the sights of Sofia, savouring the delicious local cuisine, and immersing themselves in the vibrant culture, which included dancing and even fire walking!

What a brilliant weekend it was. Caroline and Laura look forward to continuing these valuable conversations, building relationships and working with our international colleagues.

Special thanks to MI HQ – Meryl Edwards and Keith Heddle!
