BTO’s Strategic Business Plan launched in November 2024 focuses on delivering sustainable and profitable growth over the ensuing five years. Retaining our own highly skilled and accomplished people whilst continuing to attract leading talent through senior lateral hires are key measures of the success of that strategy. With five new partners assumed in 2024 we have already begun the implementation of our plan for growth.

We aim to achieve greater diversification of our client base across a wider range of sectors and practice areas. If you wish to be part of our future and would like to join our group of highly ranked individuals and teams, we would be pleased to hear from you. Please contact Managing Partner, Grant Hunter on ghu@bto.co.uk – discretion and the strictest confidence are assured.

At BTO, we are deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals. Many of our partners, including our Chair, Caroline Carr, began their career with us as trainees, demonstrating BTO’s commitment to investing in our trainees and the potential for growth and long-term success within the firm.

Comprehensive mentoring and training programmes

Our trainees benefit from a robust mentoring programme, gaining valuable insights and guidance from former trainees who have successfully navigated the path they are about to embark on. This supportive environment helps build confidence and practical skills early in your career.

Diverse rotational placements

We offer a well-structured rotational training programme, designed to expose trainees to a variety of legal disciplines. This approach ensures a comprehensive learning experience, equipping you with the versatility needed to excel in a dynamic legal landscape.

What we value

We seek candidates who:

  • Demonstrate initiative and a proactive mindset.
  • Thrive in team environments and are adept at collaboration.
