Neil Anderson is an experienced legal and commercial advisor to public and private sector organisations and individuals on a range of corporate and commercial matters, in the UK and internationally. Fundamental to his practice is working with clients to determine and mitigate risk in their commercial relationships.
He has extensive experience dealing with a range of commercial activities – including sale, supply, procurement, marketing, e-commerce, data protection (including GDPR compliance for non-EEA businesses), agency, distribution, franchising, outsourcing, IT projects, software contracts, intellectual property, partnerships, joint ventures, “supply alliance” agreements and affinity relationships. His advisory practice also extends to the Competition Law aspects of such activities.
He has significant experience in advising engineering and procurement businesses. This includes oil and gas industry service businesses concerning contracts for oil and gas in the UK and internationally (e.g. North America, South America, Africa, Continental Europe, Asia, and Australia).
He has previously developed specialisms in relation to utility-related contracts, particularly in relation to energy but also water and telecoms. He has also advised on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and carbon capture, transport, and storage projects.
He has extensive experience assisting a diverse range of businesses on their day-to-day activities in the UK and abroad – from food processors and cosmetic companies through to software designers, online education providers, and fashion house start-ups. In addition to his consulting work for BTO, he is also Head of Student Services (Diploma in Professional Legal Practice) and Lecturer in the School of Law at Edinburgh University.
He was educated at the University of Aberdeen.
