Jamie is an Associate and Solicitor Advocate in BTO’s Commercial Dispute Resolution department, based in our Edinburgh Office.
Jamie began specialising in litigation during his legal traineeship and has continued to do so since qualifying as a solicitor in 2011. During this time, he has amassed a wealth of experience of appearing in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland. In October 2017, Jamie qualified as a Solicitor Advocate and has a right of audience before the Court of Session, Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and the United Kingdom Supreme Court. He is now exercising that right of audience and has begun appearing regularly in the Court of Session.
Jamie is experienced in advising and representing both commercial clients and private individuals in a variety of matters including debt recovery (in which field he is “recommended” by Legal 500), insolvency matters and contractual and property disputes. Jamie also regularly advises on the obtaining of emergency interdicts, protective diligence and the enforcement of Scottish and foreign court awards.
As well as experience in litigation, Jamie represents clients in forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Jamie’s experience includes conducting international arbitrations, appeals of arbitration awards to the Court of Session and the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in Scotland.
Prior to undertaking his traineeship, Jamie studied law in both Scotland and Belgium.
