Can BTO’s warriors survive the “Super” Race?

05 September 2018

On Sunday 16 September 2018 in Deuchny woods, Perth, eight intrepid solicitors from leading law firm BTO will participate in the Spartan Super Race, which is part of the 2018 Scotland Spartan Triflecta, the world’s leading and most daunting obstacle race series.

These brave BTO warriors will face a true test of their athleticism and endurance in support of Brightest Star, BTO’s nominated charity for 2018.  Brightest Star provides support to families following the death of a child at any age, from any cause of death.  It was set up in memory of Jack Kennedy who fell asleep in his mum Arlene’s arms on the 19 December 2012, 6 days before his 6th birthday.

Spartan -race

There is nothing mediocre about this 12k race; with more than 25 Spartan obstacles, including walking on fire and crawling through barbed wire, and over eight miles of rugged terrain, “the Spartan Super spares no one”.

BTO’s tartan Spartans will include Alasdair Gillies, Clare Bone, Vikki Watt, David Cairns and Lindsay MacNeill from the firm’s Health & Safety (Regulatory and Criminal Defence) team, Alan Eadie and Lynne Cardow from the Professional Liability team and Calum Sweeney from the Personal Injury team, who will work together to overcome every obstacle for BTO’s chosen charity.

Alasdair Gillies said:  “Brightest Star is an excellent charity.  When Jack’s mum Arlene told us her story and explained what the charity does for families, we were all moved and wanted to do something demanding to help raise funds for this very worthy cause.  The Spartan Race tests all parts of your body and mind. We are all very excited, if a bit wary, at the prospect of this challenge, and we are keen to push ourselves to the limit and motivate each other to cross the finish line.”
