Jamie is a Senior Solicitor in our Professional Indemnity litigation team. He studied law at the University of Edinburgh graduating in 2010. After spending two years working as a Legal Assistant at the Judicial Studies Committee, Jamie obtained his Diploma in Legal Practice before training at a specialist litigation firm in Glasgow.
Jamie defends professional liability claims on behalf of the Law Society of Scotland's professional indemnity insurer against solicitors. He also deals with claims on behalf of solicitors, surveyors, architects, engineers and other construction professionals.
Prior to joining BTO, Jamie practised at a highly ranked specialist clinical negligence practice in Edinburgh. He has been involved in the defence of complex and high value court actions and has wide experience in a range of professional, commercial and regulatory matters.
Jamie is a mentor with the Law Society of Scotland and a Judge for the Law Society of Scotland’s Donald Dewar Memorial Debating Tournament. He was a tutor for a number of years at the University of Edinburgh teaching Contract & Unjustified Enrichment, Business Entities and Commercial law.
Jamie has experience in both Sheriff Court and Court of Session procedure and regularly appears in the Sheriff Court for procedural and substantive hearings.
Jamie is also a Notary Public.
When away from the office Jamie spends much of his spare time playing and writing music. He is a keen badminton player and plays in competitions and tournaments with his local club.
