Regulatory and Disciplinary
James acts for doctors, dentists and other medical professionals in proceedings before their regulatory bodies. He appears most frequently before the GMC and GDC although he also represents other health professionals before their regulatory bodies. James advises at all stages of the disciplinary process from initial complaint until final hearing or resolution of the matter. He also undertakes judicial reviews of regulators’ decisions. He has experience in all manner of regulatory complaints, including conduct, performance and health cases.
Fatal Accident Inquiries
James represents doctors and health professionals at Fatal Accident Inquiries arising from deaths in hospital, the community and custody. He deals with all aspects of Inquiries from initial investigation of the case to representation in the Sheriff Court. He regularly appears in high profile and complex Inquires in courts across Scotland.
James has a background in defender insurance litigation but he now specialises in defending clinical negligence actions on behalf of doctors, dentists and other health professionals. He has extensive experience of high value clinical negligence and catastrophic injury claims and also continues to represent clients on behalf of major UK insurers.
