Eileen joined the firm in August 2011 and is an Associate within BTO’s Insurance Representation team. She specialises in property, product-liability, policy and multi-jurisdictional claims. Her current caseload includes a variety of property, product and public liability claims. She also regularly pursues actions for recovery of outlays on behalf of various insurers against third parties.
Eileen has a particular interest in multi-jurisdictional claims. She holds a joint honours degree in Law with French Language, and previously lived and studied in France. Eileen also has previous experience of transactional work concerning the acquisition and sale of commercial property, and so is well-placed to advise on a wide range of property-related damage claims.
In addition to her work in the field of insurance law, Eileen also has extensive civil litigation experience and is regularly involved in cases brought before the sheriff courts and the Court of Session. She has previously advised institutional landlords, developers, and commercial clients on a diverse range of issues, such as debt recovery, enforcement of contract terms, recovery of possession, contentious planning issues (including running and defending actions for judicial review), breach of contract and obtaining orders for interim interdict.
Recent work includes:
- defending a number of high value claims, with international elements, arising from allegedly defective products;
- pursuing substantial recoveries in connection with damage caused by major floods and contaminated food; and
- defending numerous actions involving damage to property and public liability cover.
