Duncan has extensive experience of working with the UK’s medical defence organisations, particularly the MDDUS (Medical & Dental Defence Union of Scotland) and of defending clinical negligence claims in the civil courts. Duncan specialises in professional discipline in the healthcare sector, representing doctors, dentists and pharmacists at fitness to practise proceedings before the GMC (General Medical Council), GDC (General Dental Council) and GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council), at Fatal Accident Inquiries, during NHS disciplinary procedures and in criminal proceedings. He has also represented employers in health and safety prosecutions, carried out extensive M&A health and safety diligence and is one of the former legal advisors to the Health and Safety Executive.
