New compensation limits and minimum awards for Tribunal claims will take effect from 6 April 2017.
The changes are as follows:-
- The maximum amount of unfair dismissal compensatory award limit will increase from £78,962 to £80,541
- The maximum amount of a week’s pay (used for calculating a statutory redundancy payment and the basic award for unfair dismissal claims) will increase from £479 to £489
- The maximum guarantee pay will increase from £26 to £27 per day
- The minimum amount of basic award for trade union, health & safety, occupational pension trustee and employee representative dismissals will increase from £5,853 to £5,970.
The new limits apply where the ‘appropriate date’ is on or after 6 April 2017. Where the appropriate date falls before 6 April, the old limits will still apply, irrespective of the date on which compensation is awarded.
