The Data Protection Defence Team from bto solicitors (Paul Motion, Lindsay Urquhart, Laura Irvine) is providing data protection training to Fife Council following a competitive tender process. The tender specified a requirement to train Council staff handling sensitive personal data.
As the third largest authority in Scotland, Fife Council comprises 78 Elected Members and around 20,000 Council officers/employees working together to design, develop and deliver over 900 individual public services across Fife.
Paul Motion who heads the bto team said: “We are very grateful to have been given this opportunity to share our team’s experience. The Information Commissioner has made clear that adequacy of training is a factor he will consider in the event of a data breach, whether in the public or private sector”.
