Gone are the days when employers’ only concern was managing cover in the event of maternity leave. Over recent years the Government has implemented a large number of measures that allow employees to take a large number of different types of leave and to request flexible working.
With the Government deciding that the right to request flexible working is to be extended to all employees, it is vital that employers are aware of their obligations in this regard, how to manage this and what risks arise in practice. Employers need to ensure they are fully aware of the whole raft of “family friendly” rights, and the different considerations that apply when implementing each one.
