This practical session will involve bto’s employment law team and our expert in data protection law and practice. The seminar will consider the main areas of data protection law that are relevant for employers and how these should be managed on a day to day basis.
We will consider issues such as:
- Covert surveillance and staff
- Monitoring emails/phone/internet access
- Handling and storing personal data including medical reports, details of disciplinary warnings, grievances, informal cautions
- What should be in personnel file?
- Handling subject access reports
- Providing references
- Providing information during TUPE transfers
- Freedom of Information issues
- Admissibility of evidence in the Employment Tribunal
